What I Will Be Doing For The Next Couple of Weeks

Yesterday, I signed off the ship I have been working, have some things to do today like go to the bank. my union office and register for work pay some union dues and go to a travel agency in San Francisco to pick-up my airline tickets. Do some shopping for the needs of the trip. Where am I going, to the Philippines why to visit my wife and make her final arrangements. She developed Breast Cancer a few years ago after surgery and 3 near 4 years of oral chemo, we learned that the pain she was having in her back while still taking the chemo was bone cancer.

It is with a heavy heart that I make this trip it is not a trip that we want to make in our lives as we as humans hope that we will have to never have to say good-by to someone we love.

About an hour or so ago an old friend of my wife and myself sent me a message on Facebook and said call me before you go to the Philippines and I will pick up at the airport and drive you to San Fernando La Union. I was a little shocked. This drive will be depending on the weather, traffic, stops for food, fuel and other contingencies 4 to 10 hours.

I last visited with this good friend in Las Vegas a few years ago when house hunting the year that housing prices increased in Nevada 97% in less that a year, that great phony housing corruption boom. Needless to say I did not buy a house in Nevada. But the week I was there we had a good time.

Although my friend still maintains the house in Nevada, they also have a Condo in Manila, as well as a house in Tarlak and other properties in the Philippines. An enterprising woman, who was working as a Merchant Sailor when I first met her in the 1990's. Later in life we worked on the same ship together, she has know my wife since we were married as well as my previous wife.

She will be taking the this trip with me to say good-bye to my wife also, and I thank her for this.

It will be a while before I post again on this blog for I will be out of the country taking care of the needs of my wife.
