- The other day I posted what I hoped was a good article on our battles to preserve our credit ratings and FICO Scores. To be truthful I thought I had done a pretty good job of it. Having been away from the blogging world and having only a short time in which I had learned what little I really know about blogging to the bank. Wrong.
- It took me 2 days to compile all the information and try to use the first printer that I have ever purchased to find out that there was a glitch hidden in the drivers that would put me on the phone with HP's tech personal for about 5 hours total in 3 different secessions with them. I finally was able to scan documents that I wanted all to see. Faced an 18 hour drive to Bakersfield California and a 7 hour ride on Amtrak. Spent all evening yesterday trying to edit that post entitled "Failing Credit, It Couldn't Happen to GMAC's Homecomings Financial. Didn't have the links right but think now I do and re posted the edited article a short while ago and hope the e zines will forgive me. It has been nearly 4 months away from the world of blogging when I am out to sea in the capacity of a "Merchant Sailor." I am in San Francisco now and am preparing, to go back to work.
- To continue with the saga. Yesterday I stopped in at my bank here in San Francisco and asked for a print out of all checks cashed and was surprised to note that HOMECOMINGS FINANCIAL had shorted themselves when they electronically cashed the Second Mortgage payment for this month by $50.00. I called my Bank and asked the Assistant Manager in charge of accounts as to this error and was informed that I would have to contact, Homecomings Financial directly concerning this. Considering all that has taken place over the last 2 years; that is the last thing I wanted to do. So I went on line and learned how to file a ONLINE COMPLAINT, with the FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION concerning GMAC's HOMECOMINGS FINANCIAL.
- Oh, I did file a complaint we have the legal right to do so. It may or may not do me any good as IN THE PAST under the BUSH Administration. The FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION was pretty weak; base on posting to 5 different complaint web sites, have briefed in the last 6 hours. Well maybe with the new administration things will be different. That our new "Mr. President" will clean house per his campaign speeches. Getting back on track; I brought with me a large mailing envelope that contains copies of everything that I planed to post to my blog including my last typed letter to HOMECOMINGS FINANCIAL so I added a short note that the had shorted themselves $50.00 when they cashed the check and that the check was for $250.oo and not for $200.oo. My how efficient GMAC is with all the bailout money they received. The note also indicated that I had just filed a complaint against HOMECOMINGS FINANCIAL with the Federal Trade Commission, this I hope TO rattle the bones at their corporate office, upper management. After all these will effect my credit rating further if not corrected. The same can happen to you. Has happened to countless others in America and the world.
- Here is an Observation: "Customer Service Divisions" sorry to be politically correct "Customer Care" personal have no last names when we speak on the phone with them only first names and an employee number. When I have asked for the name of the person who is suppose to be the Corporate Vice President in charge of their division the employee's of several major corporations all say that they do not have that information. When asked if they have a phone number for the same person I always receive a negative answer. What this indicates to me is that the Customer Care personal are there not to assist the Customer; but to shield the Corporate board of directors from the customer. Blocking attempts to voice complaints from the boss. After all if they don't do so they stand a good chance of being fired. That is the bottom line, I have called customer support or emailed customer support for many business, in the last few years and didn't receive any support or CARE unless it was in the favor of the Business that I felt I was being wrongfully treated. Out sourcing of Customer Services to someone in India, Honduras, Mexico, Philippines. Who answers the phone with a computer terminal in front of them, and having only a script to read from to deal with customer's inquiries. No wonder there are 6 million Americans unemployed. In the last 15 years there have been countless Americans who have lost their jobs to this out sourcing on the part of American Corporations.
- On this subject I read and article around 3 years ago about a woman who worked in the unemployment office for the state of New Jersey who lost her civil service job when the state decided to privatize a number of state government agencies the company that received the bid for the contract was based in the state of Minnesota (if memory serves me) now out of a job she called the Unemployment Office that she use to work in and a person in India answered the phone. The article she wrote expressed great anger, that she lost her job, to an American corporation that failed to employ; Americans, for filling the contract. I am sure that we have all experienced this. Events of this nature effect our credit as more and more companies are out sourcing their data entry to these foreign business there is a greater chance for errors. Again dealing with their customer service personal is quite frustrating as they are so limited in what they can do. None can give you a PHONE NUMBER OR THE TITLE OF THE CORPORATE PERSON IN CHARGE creating a direct barrier to customers contacting the boss.
- We now, however have the means of getting through, to the board of directors of the corporations that we deal with; to the stock holders;- our blogs if failing to receive proper customer care as outlined. We are now able to spread the word; the truth as to how a business deals with the customer we can contact the stockholders; who in turn can demand that the corporate management stop costing them MONEY. We can reach the New York Stock Exchange, a negative reporting on a blog site that is sent out to thousands of news e-zines for people to read can destroy millions of dollars spent annually, in advertisement, on the part of business; causing people to stop dealing with that company; to sell off all their stock in that company; even put the company, out of business. No mater how big a business is without people world wide purchasing the products they market no business can survive. Word of mouth is the greatest form of advertising that there is and in spite of all we see on TV, hear on the radio, or read in printed form. Now it is word of blog; but, the thought still come out of our mouths. We world wide communicate with each other on a one to one base every day.
- I once worked, as a car salesman one day during a during an early morning sales meeting with the owner present the assistant sales manager answered the phone and interrupted the meeting, after the phone call ended that boss asked who it that was assistant sales manager brushed off concerning a part for their vehicle. The boss recognized the name; said call the lady back and tell her that the car would be repaired to day; to get an alternator off one of the new vehicles, as there was none in the parts department for that model. Turns out that the lady was the President of The Guam Woman's Club her Husband a local Politician and Business man and the boss felt that she had the biggest mouth on the island. That she had the biggest mouth of all the women on the island; in a single phone call could destroy, $100,000.oo spent in monthly advertising. We sold more Mitsubishi vechiles; per month, than any other dealership in the United States. The primary shoppers of the world are not men but women that is why all stores have the womans department on the first floor or in the front of the store as in the case of Walmart, Sears, Kaymart, Old Navy, have to make it easy for women to shop. I am not ignorant in these matters.
- A couple of years ago the CEO of Safeway decided; to lock out all, union employee's of their California sub corporation Albertson's in an attempt to break the union. I as a union man refused to cross the picket lines as did millions of other customers this action on the part of the CEO of Safeway cost the Stockholders $27,000,000.oo in earnings in 1.5 months before the stock holders said enough and he was forced to back down; in the state of California. (as reported in the news papers) we have the power to effect the bottom line of all business; their cash flow. Safeway eventually sold the California, Albertson's stores. The power of the people, the customers union and nonunion customers, that didn't like what they saw. Remember that Mr. Safeway CEO. However his actions effected the credit ratings of all the union employees as a result of the lock out I am sure.
- The credit reporting companies are not in the business of helping us as people they receive their income from business that pay them thousands of dollars annually. In the early 1970's there were no credit companies they were an out growth to service a need for business, banks, etc. It wasn't until the late 1980's that congress passed laws regulating what they can and cannot do.
- I did not get into: [email]; until, 2003; purchased my first computer in 2006 I am writing this on that laptop today. I am 54 years of age. In late 2003 I receive and email, from the US Attorney's Office, asking me if I had ever been charge money for credit reports by Experian. I replied no; it seems as though there were enough complaints against the corporation that the Federal Government was forced to look in to the matter, I believe that Experian was FINED $8,000,000.oo and was giving a large slap on the wrist. We have the right to force these business to correct all errors in out credit reporting. Failure for them to keep accurate records is a violation of Federal and state laws. We do have our resources, only if we dig out the information and use it to our advantage as individuals.
- I hope that this article has been entertaining and informative; remember, it's your credit and mine that is being effected. We have the power to say to the banks; even in this time of World Economic Depression, to say NO when Banks terminate our unused credit cards that we have work hard to create our lines of credit with. We have the right to say NO to Mortgage Companies that make errors in their accounting and ask us to pay the difference; that breach their contracts with you and me and then threaten us with legal action and send debt collectors after us. To threat foreclosure. After all this could not happen to me; but it did. I ask again if you are not involved with any other Federal Class Action Suits against GMAC or its Subsidiary and can document what they have done that effects your credit that was of no fault of your own contact me at the email address below.
